At the June 6, 2023 City Council Regular Session, City Council will be asked to vote upon the adoption of a Public Art Master Plan.
A Public Art Master Plan was one of the recommendations of the City’s Parks and Recreation Master Plan adopted by Council on February 19, 2019, with Resolution 2019-22. Based on that recommendation, the City issued a Request for Quote soliciting firms to create Mount Dora’s public art plan. An Evaluation Committee voted upon the proposals received in response to the RFQ, and with Resolution 2021-41, on April 20, 2021, City Council recommended award of the bid to art consulting firm Designing Local, Ltd. Designing Local worked closely with the City staff, the Public Arts Commission and various stakeholders in the community to create their final version of the Mount Dora Public Art Plan. At their August 23, 2022 meeting, the Public Arts Commission approved the plan and recommended it to Council for adoption.
