Good afternoon citizens of Mount Dora, this is Mayor Cathy Hoechst.
A number of residents have asked me about the Petition concerning heights of buildings in Mount Dora. All the information about the Building Height Petition is listed on the City of Mount Dora website, on the home page, in the area titled: Building Height Petition Information. Also, you have access to the Land Development Code that exists with the references to existing building height restrictions under the department: Planning and Development, listed to the left, Planning and Zoning then Land Development Code.
One of the responsibilities of the City Council is to hire the City Manager, who is the individual responsible for the day to day operations of the city and reports to the City Council. We have been in a search for a City Manager for the past several months. At the September 7th Council Meeting we will be presenting nine (9) candidates by the search firm hired, Slavin Management Consultants. The information regarding these candidates will be in the Council agenda packet online no later than Friday, September 3rd, 2021, for review.
Council will ask further questions of the consultant at the meeting, and then we'll rate each candidate and the ratings will be collated and candidates will be selected to visit Mount Dora for a personal interview. Each candidate will be interviewed by a Council Member privately and then before the full Council in which the public is invited. There will also be a public reception.
Dates have not yet been determined. I encourage you to review the information and share your thoughts with Council Members. Selecting the appropriate candidate is a very important function of the role of the City Council.
