Completed Call to Artists: Dumpster Murals

This Call to Artists has closed as of 5 p.m. on March 6, 2020. Please continue to check back on this page in the next few weeks for the selected artists to be announced.

The Public Arts Commission sought statements of qualifications from artists for the upcoming public art installation series, Dumpster Art. Public murals such as these are an affordable, tangible option for showcasing the unique character of the City, recognizing artists, fostering a sense of community pride, and creating inviting spaces.

Selected artists will contract directly with the City of Mount Dora to paint a mural on 1 or more trash compactor enclosures located on 4th and Alexander St., 5th and Baker St., 3rd and Donnelly St., and 4th and Dora Drawdy Way. Artists will be selected based on previous work and their concept or vision for an entire enclosure. Artists may work individually or in teams, and artists residing outside of Mount Dora and Lake County are welcome to apply. A $1400 commission will be awarded to each selected artist or team. Selected artists will be responsible for providing their own supplies and must be available to paint during normal business hours.
