Steve Langley is the Electric Utility Director with the City of Mount Dora since August 1, 2019. He has been working with the City of Mount Dora since 2017 as the Deputy Electric Director. Prior to this, Steve worked at Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC) where he has over 30 years of experience.
Steve grew up in Jackson, Mississippi and moved to the Orlando, FL area with his family while attending college. He received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Mississippi State University and upon graduation, started working at Orlando Utilities Commission in their Engineering Department.
At OUC, Steve worked in the Energy Delivery Business Unit as the Director of Distribution Construction & Maintenance for over ten years managing approximately 100 line technicians and administration employees. During that time he gained experience in construction, maintenance and operations of an electric distribution system. In 2009, he transferred to Director of Risk, Safety, Security, and Training where he was responsible for the implementation of the Commission wide emergency operation plan implementing the NIMS Incident Command System. Steve worked closely with senior executives, OUC employees, State, and local officials in preparing OUC’s response to an emergency.
- OUC took over the operation of the electric system for the City of St. Cloud. Steve managed the St. Cloud service center during this transition which included the operation of the St. Cloud distribution system.
- Steve led the Construction and Maintenance staff along with over 1,000 contractors and mutual aid lineman and trimmers during hurricanes, Charlie, Frances and Jeanne.
- Steve led OUC’s emergency operations as incident Commander during hurricane Matthew.
- Steve led a project to overhaul the hurricane emergency response for the City of Mount Dora utilizing the NIMS system.
