Babysitters Training Class
The kids are out of school so lets learn something that they can use anywhere. Are you wanting to start babysitting or are already babysitting but you need a little guidance? Well here's your chance to get all of your questions answered and have a good time while learning the ins and outs of childcare.

Adult Dance
If you're 16 years of age or older, and you've always wanted to learn to dance, now is the chance to learn from the best instructors in the state. Maggie Noles and Phillip Hollifield teach all forms of dance, so put on your dance shoes and start enjoying the fun of dancing again! Private lessons are available upon request; call (352) 223-9221 for an appointment.

Chess Club
The Mount Dora Chess Club meets every Friday night from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the lower level of the Community Building. This free club is open to all levels of players. Games are played and courses taught on how to improve your skill level.  For more information, please contact Albert Bascombe at (352) 551-9348.

There is also a Chess Club that meets during the day at the W.T. Bland Public Library on the first and third Saturdays of each month from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. See the Library’s programs for details.

Woodcarvers' Club
Do you remember as a kid the first time you tried to carve something? Well, there is a group of people who have learned the skills of woodcarving and are willing to teach others as well.  Ralph Rossignol will be instructing the art of woodcarving and can be contacted at (352) 385-0483. Class meets on an ongoing basis.

Yoga for the Mature Body
Practicing yoga improves strength, flexibility, balance, concentration, muscle tone, and lung capacity. Yoga is also extremely beneficial in reducing stress, depression, anxiety, and also brings balance to all of the major organ systems.

No prior experience is necessary, all are welcome. Please bring a yoga mat and dress in comfortable clothing that allows you to breathe deeply.

Hatha Yoga
Hatha Yoga uses postures and stretches in combination with the breath to develop flexibility and relaxation. This class encourages proper alignment of the body and brings balance, strength, and calmness to the student. We will start with a gentle warm-up, work through sun salutations, interspersed with basic yoga sequences and holding poses. We will finish with savanna (rest), which includes a head & hand massage from the instructor. A challenging class for beginner to intermediate. You will find this class to be the "missing link" to your current fitness regimen. For more information contact Brenda Skiles at

Trash to Treasures Yard Sale
Need more room at home? Register now to join us in Gilbert Park for an old fashion Yard Sale. Get rid of your treasures while at the same time helping to raise fund for recreational scholarships for those in need.

Leprechaun Treasure Hunt
GOLD, PRIZES, and GAMES.....What more can you ask for? Come join the City of Mount Dora Parks and Recreation Department for a St Patrick's Day celebration for all your little leprechauns! There will be a mountain of gold to find, prizes, snacks and drinks. Children 12 and under are welcome.

Girls Night Out

Drowning Prevention Safety Day
Local agencies will be at the Lincoln Avenue Community Pool (1200 N. Unser St.) providing demonstrations on how to keep your children and families safe in Florida's pools, lakes, oceans, and prevent drowning. Door prizes will be given throughout the demonstrations.
