Lunch and a Movie
Join the Parks & Recreation department every 3rd Thursday in the Community Building for this new experience. Enjoy lunch while you watch a movie. The cost is $5 per person, which includes lunch and the movie. RSVP to (352) 735-7183. This monthly event is presented by The Lake Gazette.


Beginners Spanish Lessons
Hola amigos! Interested in learning Spanish? Join us for a beginners small group class and engage in easy and effective lessons. Participants have the chance to learn the basics of a second language as a beginner speaker. The instructor is a Spanish native and a qualified teacher, with experience in tutoring elementary school students.

Photography Seminar
The discussion will center around capture, workflow and storage of digital files relating to today's photography. Points to cover: *Digital media used to capture images - compact, SD and micro SD flash cards. Participants will learn which to use and how to handle them. Workflow will include how to get images from the camera to the computer and to print. Participants will also learn the dos and don'ts of archiving digital files.

Miss Jan's "Mommy and Me" Musical Playschool 
Explore the world of music and creative movement through active play, games, multicultural songs and rhythm instruments. Come play, grow and learn! Enjoy fun themes! Make new friends!

 Mommy and Me
 

Talents Production Music School
Students benefit from small group interaction in a classroom setting. Only 3 to 4 students are in each class so each student gets individual attention at the same time. Age groups include: 4 - 6 years; 7 - 9 years; 10 years and up. Tuition is $40 a month and includes an overview of music theory, reading music and playing the instrument. Piano and guitar lessons are also available. Classes begin in May 2013.
Once registration forms are completed, parents will be informed of their designated schedule. Each class will be assigned a specific time. For example, the 4 - 6 year class meets every Monday at 4:00 -4:30 PM and the 7 - 9 year class follows at 4:30 PM - 5:00 PM and so on. Once a class reaches four students, it is closed and the another class opens in a following time slot.

Adult Dance
If you're 16 years of age or older, and you've always wanted to learn to dance, now is the chance to learn from the best instructors in the state. Maggie Noles and Phillip Hollifield teach all forms of dance, so put on your dance shoes and start enjoying the fun of dancing again! Private lessons are available upon request; call (352) 223-9221 for an appointment.

Chess Club
The Mount Dora Chess Club meets every Friday night from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the lower level of the Community Building. This free club is open to all levels of players. Games are played and courses taught on how to improve your skill level.  For more information, please contact Albert Bascombe at (352) 551-9348.

There is also a Chess Club that meets during the day at the W.T. Bland Public Library on the first and third Saturdays of each month from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. See the Library’s programs for details.

Woodcarvers' Club
Do you remember as a kid the first time you tried to carve something? Well, there is a group of people who have learned the skills of woodcarving and are willing to teach others as well.  Ralph Rossignol will be instructing the art of woodcarving and can be contacted at (352) 385-0483. Class meets on an ongoing basis.
