Harmon Massey was elected Mount Dora City Councilmember At Large (Odd) in November 2017. Prior to his election he served as Trustee for the Mount Dora Firefighters Pension Fund and as a member of the Community Redevelopment Committee. He was President of his condominium association's Board of Directors and is an active Mount Dora Lawn Bowling Club member. Harmon and his wife, Lyn, moved to Mount Dora in 2015.
He is retried from career military service and from the State of Florida. He spent 9 years as an Air Force pilot/instructor in B-52’s and flew 150 missions in SE Asia. Following a break in service for a law degree, Harmon served 19 more years as a judge advocate, including tours of duty as a military judge and as a major command staff judge advocate before retiring as a Colonel. He spent 9 years as a Florida Assistant State Attorney.
Harmon has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Mississippi State University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Mississippi. He is admitted to practice in Mississippi and Florida (inactive status).
