  1. New exhibition at the Modernism Museum-- Space Oddities: The Sequel

    The Modernism Museum Mount Dora is pleased to announce its new exhibition, Space Oddities: The Sequel. The exhibition opens on Tuesday, July 9th and will run until mid-2020. Space Oddities: The Sequel expands upon the Modernism Museum’s exhibition of mind-bending Post-Modern designs created by the radical 1980s design collective known as Memphis. This exhibit features hundreds of new Memphis design objects never-before displayed at the Modernism Museum. A members-only opening reception will be held on Wednesday, July 10th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM in the Modernism Museum gallery. This event is only open to 3MD Members; however, memberships will be available for purchase at the event. Individual-level Memberships start at $40 and several levels are available.   2. Vilas Tonape- Solo Exhibit

    Working in both figurative and non-representational modes, Tonape focuses on nature. His paintings are “melodies” orchestrated by the artist, rooted in the visual rhythms of gesture and color, recorded in the subject matter. Opening reception: January 10th, 2020 6-8 PM.

    Learn why and how to meditate in a relaxed setting with a volunteer leader. Bimonthly meditations are based loosely on the book, The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment, by Eckhart Tolle. Explore meditation in our guided group setting. The benefits of meditation can be relaxation, health improvement, stress reduction, improve the immune system, improve intuition and enhanced awareness. No registration required for this free program. Workshops are scheduled for the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month, starting at 2:00pm in the Simpson Farmhouse.   4. Piatigorsky Concert - Violinist Linda Rosenthal

    he Piatigorsky Foundation is dedicated to making live classical music an integral part of everyday life for communities throughout the United States. This year's musician is Violinist LINDA ROSENTHAL, who performs throughout North America, Europe and Asia in recitals, as a soloist with orchestra and as a chamber musician. Based in Juneau Alaska, Linda has also performed in virtually every corner that great State, from fishing villages and logging camps in Southeast Alaska to remote villages above the Arctic Circle. Linda is the Founder and Artistic Director of both Juneau Jazz & Classics, an annual music festival that brings world-renowned jazz and classical artists to perform and teach in Juneau each May, and the Lake Placid Chamber Music Seminar in Lake Placid, New York. Following the concert, guests are invited to stay and meet the artists. Free and open to the public; no registration is required. Sponsored by the Mount Dora Library Association.
