The Modernism Museum Mount Dora is pleased to announce its new exhibition, Space Oddities: The Sequel. The exhibition opens on Tuesday, July 9th and will run until mid-2020.
Space Oddities: The Sequel expands upon the Modernism Museum’s exhibition of mind-bending Post-Modern designs created by the radical 1980s design collective known as Memphis. This exhibit features hundreds of new Memphis design objects never-before displayed at the Modernism Museum.
A members-only opening reception will be held on Wednesday, July 10th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM in the Modernism Museum gallery. This event is only open to 3MD Members; however, memberships will be available for purchase at the event. Individual-level Memberships start at $40 and several levels are available. Now in its 45th year, the Mount Dora Arts Festival, held the first weekend in February, has been the main fundraising event for Mount Dora Center for the Arts and continually ranks among the top 20 arts festivals in the nation. The festival features 300 of the nation's leading artists who fill the quaint, historic streets of downtown Mount Dora with a colorful array of fine art. The funds raised during this event are crucial for the Art Center’s year-round art programming.

Working in both figurative and non-representational modes, Tonape focuses on nature. His paintings are “melodies” orchestrated by the artist, rooted in the visual rhythms of gesture and color, recorded in the subject matter.

Come watch, learn, and play chess. All skill levels and ages are welcome! Beginners will learn basic moves and then be paired with a player. Beginners are especially welcome!
Studies have shown that chess may raise students' IQ and help prevent Alzheimer's. Chess is call "the game of kings" and will boost your creativity, memory, and problem-solving skills.
Drop in anytime between 10:00am and noon, on the first and third Saturday of each month. No registration required.

Join the Mount Dora Dulcimer Society at your Library on the first Saturday of the month. All acoustic instruments are welcome: violin, guitar, autoharp, ukulele, etc. This group is open to all and registration is not required.
