The Modernism Museum Mount Dora is pleased to announce its new exhibition, Space Oddities: The Sequel. The exhibition opens on Tuesday, July 9th and will run until mid-2020.
Space Oddities: The Sequel expands upon the Modernism Museum’s exhibition of mind-bending Post-Modern designs created by the radical 1980s design collective known as Memphis. This exhibit features hundreds of new Memphis design objects never-before displayed at the Modernism Museum.
A members-only opening reception will be held on Wednesday, July 10th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM in the Modernism Museum gallery. This event is only open to 3MD Members; however, memberships will be available for purchase at the event. Individual-level Memberships start at $40 and several levels are available. Working in both figurative and non-representational modes, Tonape focuses on nature. His paintings are “melodies” orchestrated by the artist, rooted in the visual rhythms of gesture and color, recorded in the subject matter.

Art and music exhibitors will line Royellou Lane, in the heart of downtown Mount Dora, showcasing their original art, handmade goods and acoustic sounds. Downtown galleries will have extended hours and will be open to the public free of charge. This is a unique opportunity to experience a vibrant, eclectic mix of emerging and established artists.

Join City of Mount Dora staff, Center for the Arts representatives, and the arts community to celebrate the hanging of new light pole banners Downtown. Each banner was created by a local artist who submitted their design as part of the City’s Public Arts Commission contest. Come and meet the artists!
The event will also feature Mayor Cathy Hoechst sitting to have her portrait drawn by Vilas Tonapeas part of his solo exhibit, “Inspired Cognitions,” on display in the MDCA gallery.
