February Monthly Meeting - Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 10 am EST. Harry Messersmith will be joining us to provide his expertise on critiquing artwork. Mr. Messersmith will be available after the program to do individual critiques of member artwork for a fee of $5.00 per piece. Our monthly meetings are held in the fellowship hall at the Congregational Church of Mount Dora located at 650 North Donnelly Street in Mount Dora. Come watch, learn, and play chess. All skill levels and ages are welcome! Beginners will learn basic moves and then be paired with a player. Beginners are especially welcome! Studies have shown that chess may raise students' IQ and help prevent Alzheimer's. Chess is call "the game of kings" and will boost your creativity, memory, and problem-solving skills. Drop in anytime between 10:00am and noon, on the first and third Saturday of each month. No registration required.

A Taste of African Cuisine is a demo and sample class that introduces you to the foods and flavors of African cuisine and gives you an opportunity to sample some dishes from class-prepared recipes. The Roaming Gourmet Ze Carter will share user tips, tricks and even sample a recipe in this free class. Sponsored by the Mount Dora Library Association.

Saturdays at 10:30 am, beginning January 26, 2019. Announcing a special story time for babies up to 15 months as well as expectant parents. Meet other caregivers while supporting your baby’s early development needs. Staff have been specially trained on the latest best practices for infant and in utero story times. Infant story times are structured differently because the needs of babies are so different! Toddlers who are brought to this story time will have a special role as well. Thanks to the Friends of the Library, this story time has new books and new developmentally appropriate toys. Parents and babies are welcome to stay for play and explore following the story time. Imagination is a creative force we use to put our ideas into action. We will explore this process by learning how famous artists used their imaginations from childhood, to achieve their creative goals, then create our own artwork inspired by the artist. Grades 1-6.
