  1. New exhibition at the Modernism Museum-- Space Oddities: The Sequel

    July 9, 2019, 10:00 AM - July 1, 2020, 5:00 PM @ Modernism Museum Mount Dora

    The Modernism Museum Mount Dora is pleased to announce its new exhibition, Space Oddities: The Sequel. The exhibition opens on Tuesday, July 9th and will run until mid-2020. Space Oddities: The Sequel expands upon the Modernism Museum’s exhibition of mind-bending Post-Modern designs created by the radical 1980s design collective known as Memphis. This exhibit features hundreds of new Memphis design objects never-before displayed at the Modernism Museum. A members-only opening reception will be held on Wednesday, July 10th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM in the Modernism Museum gallery. This event is only open to 3MD Members; however, memberships will be available for purchase at the event. Individual-level Memberships start at $40 and several levels are available.   4. 8th Annual War on Breast Cancer

    December 7, 2019, 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM @ Cauley Lott Park

    8th Annual War on Breast Cancer presented by Women of Color Declaring War on Breast Cancer. This event will be a Cauley Lott Park with free and reduced priced Mammograms, music, food and entertainment. There will be a fundraiser and canvassing local businesses for donations. To participate in the mammograms, you must be 35 years of age or have a written script from your primary doctor (if under 35).   5. A Vivacity Christmas

    December 7, 2019, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM @ Modernism Museum Mount Dora

    The Modernism Museum Mount Dora welcomes A Vivacity Christmas, starring Krissy Vavrek on vocals, Per Danielsson on piano, Daniel Jordan on saxophone and flute, and Ian Goodman on drums. The concert will be in the Modernism Museum Gallery on December 7th at 7:00 PM (Doors open 6:30 PM). A sparkling and white wine reception is included with your admission, which begins at 6:30pm. Come experience the high-energy and versatile talents of swing, jazz, and Gatsby band Vivacity! Vivacity was formed in 2007 as an entertainment band for swing dances and resorts. With 13 different musicians, they feature a large line-up of very talented musicians and showcase original dance band style music! With strong roots in New Orleans music, their sound is a unique neo-vaudeville heavily inspired by the 1920’s. Vivacity is sure to remind you of Christmases from decades past.

    Come watch, learn, and play chess. All skill levels and ages are welcome! Beginners will learn basic moves and then be paired with a player. Beginners are especially welcome! Studies have shown that chess may raise students' IQ and help prevent Alzheimer's. Chess is call "the game of kings" and will boost your creativity, memory, and problem-solving skills. Drop in anytime between 10:00am and noon, on the first and third Saturday of each month. No registration required.

  1. Sweet Peas a Baby Story Time

    December 7, 2019, 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM @ Children's Program Room

    Saturdays at 10:30 am, beginning January 26, 2019. Announcing a special story time for babies up to 15 months as well as expectant parents. Meet other caregivers while supporting your baby’s early development needs. Staff have been specially trained on the latest best practices for infant and in utero story times. Infant story times are structured differently because the needs of babies are so different! Toddlers who are brought to this story time will have a special role as well. Thanks to the Friends of the Library, this story time has new books and new developmentally appropriate toys. Parents and babies are welcome to stay for play and explore following the story time.
