  1. New exhibition at the Modernism Museum-- Space Oddities: The Sequel

    July 9, 2019, 10:00 AM - July 1, 2020, 5:00 PM @ Modernism Museum Mount Dora

    The Modernism Museum Mount Dora is pleased to announce its new exhibition, Space Oddities: The Sequel. The exhibition opens on Tuesday, July 9th and will run until mid-2020. Space Oddities: The Sequel expands upon the Modernism Museum’s exhibition of mind-bending Post-Modern designs created by the radical 1980s design collective known as Memphis. This exhibit features hundreds of new Memphis design objects never-before displayed at the Modernism Museum. A members-only opening reception will be held on Wednesday, July 10th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM in the Modernism Museum gallery. This event is only open to 3MD Members; however, memberships will be available for purchase at the event. Individual-level Memberships start at $40 and several levels are available.   2. Annual Plein Air Paint Out and Exhibit

    “Plein Air” is French for painting out-of-doors. For one week in November MDCA hosts a plein air paint out which brings artists from all over the area to Mount Dora to paint the scenic lakefront and quaint cottages. The work from the Paint Out is exhibited and awards are given for the top three works. Opening reception: November 8th, 2019 6-8 PM.

  4. 7th Annual Mount Dora Scottish Highlands Festival

    November 16, 2019, 10:00 AM - November 17, 2019, 5:00 PM @ Donnelly Park

    Enjoy a full weekend of Scottish Festival food, drinks games and so much more! The event has now grown into a two-day event that will be celebrated on Sat, Nov 16th and Sun Nov 17th. Hours 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Highland Games will be in Evans Park where you can watch traditional Scottish athletic events and are FREE to watch. Vendors, Scottish Clans and Society Booths along with food, drinks and Pipers will be in Donnelly Park. Admission Prices: $10 Adults $5 Kids and Seniors Military members are free with ID. You can purchase tickets online or at the gate the day of the event. The concert will take place in the Modernism Museum gallery on Saturday, November 16th at 7:00pm (doors open 6:30 PM). A sparkling and white wine reception is included with your admission, which begins at 6:30pm.

    Come watch, learn, and play chess. All skill levels and ages are welcome! Beginners will learn basic moves and then be paired with a player. Beginners are especially welcome! Studies have shown that chess may raise students' IQ and help prevent Alzheimer's. Chess is call "the game of kings" and will boost your creativity, memory, and problem-solving skills. Drop in anytime between 10:00am and noon, on the first and third Saturday of each month. No registration required.

  1. Sweet Peas a Baby Story Time

    Saturdays at 10:30 am, beginning January 26, 2019. Announcing a special story time for babies up to 15 months as well as expectant parents. Meet other caregivers while supporting your baby’s early development needs. Staff have been specially trained on the latest best practices for infant and in utero story times. Infant story times are structured differently because the needs of babies are so different! Toddlers who are brought to this story time will have a special role as well. Thanks to the Friends of the Library, this story time has new books and new developmentally appropriate toys. Parents and babies are welcome to stay for play and explore following the story time.
