  1. Solar Eclipse Program

    August 21, 2017, 12:30 PM - 3:00 PM @ Community Room

    On Monday, August 21, 2017, a total solar eclipse will cross the continental U.S. The last time a total eclipse crossed the U.S. from sea to sea was June 8, 1918. In the U.S., millions will gather along a tiny ribbon less than 100 miles to see totality, the complete blocking out of the sun by the Moon which will reveal the solar corona. The rest of the entire country will be able to see a partial eclipse, which the peak viewing time is anticipated in the Orlando area at 2:45 PM. Refreshments will be served. When viewing a partial eclipse, observers must use eye protection at all times. 12:30 PM NASA EDGE Webcast of the total solar eclipse 1:00 PM Vising of Chasing Shadows, 61 minute film about an eclipse photographer 2:00 PM Eclipse glasses distributed (while supplies last) for viewing Sponsored by the Mount Dora Library Association.
