  1. Frida Kahlo and Surrealism

    May 18, 2017, 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM @ 1921 by Norman Van Aken

Announcing a Dine & Learn lecture series on one of Mexico’s greatest artists, Frida Kahlo. Frida Kahlo and Surrealism is part 2 of a 3-part series on the artist’s continued influence on art and culture. Andre Breton called Frida Kahlo and her work Surrealist, but she rejected this label. However, Salvador Dali embraced the label of Surrealism. Both artists led public lives that often seemed exotic or eccentric. This session explores the idea of Surrealism and will compare and contrast the works of Kahlo and Dali. We are now offering the Dine & Learn series as a lunch or dinner, which will include your seat at 1921 by Norman Van Aken, a 3-course menu to choose from, and a thought provoking lecture on Frida Kahlo’s life and art work. Please call (352) 385-0034 to reserve your seat today!
