April 9, 2017, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ Trout Lake Nature Center
It’s turtle time, and Trout Lake Nature Center (TLNC) is celebrating the season with Turtle Day, featuring turtle-focused educational events, turtle experts, visiting turtles, and TLNC’s own live (rescue) turtles in their “home.” Educational activities will be available for children. The event celebrates Gopher Tortoises to make people aware of the plight of this endangered species and turtles around the world. In addition to turtles, human naturalists with special expertise in the slow-moving aquatic and terrestrial reptiles will participate in the event. TLNC is home to several species of turtles, which are active at this time of year. Turtles are likely to be observed in the wetlands or laying eggs along some of the trails. Come learn about Florida’s turtles and their importance to healthy ecosystems. Learn what you can do to help turtles. There is no charge for admission but donations are appreciated and help to feed our turtles. For more information call 352-357-7536
