  2. Dining on the Balcony of Europe: Exploring Georgian Cuisine

    The Modernism Museum Mount Dora presents our next Dine & Learn: Dining on the Balcony of Europe: Exploring Georgian Cuisine featuring Dr. Michael Denner on Wednesday, May 22nd, 2019 at 12:30 PM (luncheon) and 6:30 PM (dinner). Join the Modernism Museum and as we explore the rich culinary history of the country of Georgia. Its location at the crossroads of Asia and Europe has brought travelers, merchants, missionaries and conquerors of all kinds and creeds. Georgia’s cultural heritage spans thousands of years, and the many foreign influences have resulted in a food culture that is distinct from any other cuisine. Dr. Michael Denner is the director of Stetson University’s program in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies, director of Stetson’s Honors Program, and editor of The Tolstoy Studies Journal. A variety of Georgian beers and wines will be available for purchase. Please call the Modernism Museum at (352) 385-0034 to reserve your spot. Limited seating is available.

    The Mount Dora Fire Department is pulling back the bay doors and opening up the space for you to come and practice yoga with Firefighters! The class will be led by PIO Lisa McDonald who is also a registered Yoga Teacher. We'd love for you to come park your yoga mat next to a firefighter and enjoy an hour of gentle yoga poses, stretching and strengthening. Want want to spend our Memorial Day with you! This is a free event and open to all levels, beginner or advanced! The most important part will be to have fun with the firefighters!     W.T. Bland Public Library Technology Lab Registration begins 1/2/2019 at 8:00 AM Learn how to use Excel to organize numbers and text in a spreadsheet format. Excel spreadsheets can be used for budgets, work and school projects, record-keeping, lists, inventories, and more. By the end of this class you should be able to create and format a spreadsheet; enter and edit data; and use basic formulas to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers in a horizontal row or vertical column. Attendees will use PCs in the W.T. Bland Public Library Technology Lab, which have Microsoft Excel 2016 installed.

    "Where is the flash? What about the batteries? What do these buttons do? Can my shots be edited on the camera? How do I focus my shots?" This class will answer these basic questions. Instructor Steve Berger is a photographer with years of photography instruction experience. This class is a hands-on workshop for beginners. You'll learn how to operate your digital camera and practice taking shots during class. Please bring your digital camera (make sure it is charged).
