Duke Energy contract crews will be pruning trees along electric lines located within the City of Mount Dora for the next three months. The main areas of trimming are listed below:
- Along 19A and adjoining streets from Progress Blvd to Codding Place
- Along the west side of US Hwy 441 south of Robie Ave.
- Along SR 44 near the entrance to Lock Leven subdivision.
- Between Old US 441 and Lake Dora
The tree crews will be cleaning up all debris associated with the maintenance activities. Part of the pruning activity will occur on lines located in the back lots which will require climbing. Duke Energy, Florida states they balance the need for reliable electric power with sensitivity for the environment and tree health. They have been recognized for their tree care practices with the distinctive Tree Line USA designation from The National Arbor Day Foundation for 13 consecutive years, Tree crews use a technique known as directional pruning, which is endorsed by The National Arbor Day Foundation and the International Society of Arboriculture.
