Independence Day Celebrations Cancelled due to COVID-19

Due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19, the City of Mount Dora has cancelled the Freedom on the Waterfront event and the annual Fourth of July Independence Day Parade.

Freedom on the Waterfront celebrates Independence Day annually on the 3rd of July with fireworks on Lake Dora and the parade is held the next morning on July 4th.

The Mount Dora City Council discussed the fireworks event on Tuesday May 19, and agreed to cancel the event.

The decision was made due to concerns of potentially large crowds gathering in Mount Dora to view the fireworks and the parade and the challenges such a crowd would create in providing a respectful social distancing option for all in attendance.
