Matthew Festa, the son of two pastors, has played the saxophone for over 30 years and also plays the acoustic guitar and sings. A fan of Cannonball Adderley and Bobby Militello, Matt plays everything from traditional blues and jazz to Fleetwood Mac and Steely Dan and more! “The Saxman,” accompanied by vocalist Jana Lugar, is sure to delight you with his soulful renditions of popular tunes.

    Learn how to use HTML on Notepad to create a custom-designed webpage by the end of the class series. Classes are conducted in our Technology Lab, using library PCs. This is a hands-on workshop co-taught by a college programming professor and a systems manager. This class is not for computer beginners. Students must have a working knowledge of Windows Explorer and file management techniques. Please bring your own flash drive to each class. This is a five-class series; register once and your spot will be reserved for all five classes.

    Would you like free help in preparing for citizenship? Please join our Citizenship Class for friendly help and advice. Class students will work with our volunteer instructor to prepare for the Citizenship process. Students will go through the application form to prepare for the verbal interview and written test. This includes speaking, reading, and writing in English and learning Civics (History and Government). Enrolled students receive free preparation materials. This is a five-week series class, taught by an instructor who became a U.S. citizen in 2005. Please register at the Circulation Desk to confirm your participation (no paperwork is required).

    Learn how to use Excel to organize numbers and text in a spreadsheet format. Excel spreadsheets can be used for budgets, work and school projects, record-keeping, lists, inventories, and more. By the end of this class you should be able to create and format a spreadsheet; enter and edit data; and use basic formulas to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers in a horizontal row or vertical column. Attendees will use PCs in the W.T. Bland Public Library Technology Lab, which have Microsoft Excel 2013 installed.

    The Mount Dora Historical Society invites you to a free preview screening of its new documentary, "On the Shores of Lake Dora." The film follows several key developments in the history of Mount Dora's waterfront, with insights from local citizens. The documentarian is Matt Hyland, a graduate of Mount Dora High School and a University of Central Florida film student. The annual meeting of the Mount Dora Historical Society will be held immediately after the screening. Refreshments will be served, and the public is welcome.
