  1. New exhibition at the Modernism Museum-- Space Oddities: The Sequel

    July 9, 2019, 10:00 AM - July 1, 2020, 5:00 PM @ Modernism Museum Mount Dora

    The Modernism Museum Mount Dora is pleased to announce its new exhibition, Space Oddities: The Sequel. The exhibition opens on Tuesday, July 9th and will run until mid-2020. Space Oddities: The Sequel expands upon the Modernism Museum’s exhibition of mind-bending Post-Modern designs created by the radical 1980s design collective known as Memphis. This exhibit features hundreds of new Memphis design objects never-before displayed at the Modernism Museum. A members-only opening reception will be held on Wednesday, July 10th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM in the Modernism Museum gallery. This event is only open to 3MD Members; however, memberships will be available for purchase at the event. Individual-level Memberships start at $40 and several levels are available.   4. 8th Annual War on Breast Cancer

    8th Annual War on Breast Cancer presented by Women of Color Declaring War on Breast Cancer. This event will be a Cauley Lott Park with free and reduced priced Mammograms, music, food and entertainment. There will be a fundraiser and canvassing local businesses for donations.     The Modernism Museum Mount Dora welcomes A Vivacity Christmas, starring Krissy Vavrek on vocals, Per Danielsson on piano, Daniel Jordan on saxophone and flute, and Ian Goodman on drums. The concert will be in the Modernism Museum Gallery on December 7th at 7:00 PM (Doors open 6:30 PM). A sparkling and white wine reception is included with your admission, which begins at 6:30pm. Come experience the high-energy and versatile talents of swing, jazz, and Gatsby band Vivacity! Vivacity was formed in 2007 as an entertainment band for swing dances and resorts. With 13 different musicians, they feature a large line-up of very talented musicians and showcase original dance band style music! With strong roots in New Orleans music, their sound is a unique neo-vaudeville heavily inspired by the 1920’s. Vivacity is sure to remind you of Christmases from decades past.

    "Where is the flash? What about the batteries? What do these buttons do? Can my shots be edited on the camera? How do I focus my shots?" This class will answer these basic questions. Instructor Steve Berger is a photographer with years of photography instruction experience. This class is a hands-on workshop for beginners. You'll learn how to operate your digital camera and practice taking shots during class. Please bring your digital camera (make sure it is charged).
