Canine Mayor of Mount Dora Contest


 

Calling All Canines!


The Mount Dora Police Department, in partnership wit the Mount Dora Heroes Foundation, invites Mount Dora locals to nominate their canine as the 'Honorary Canine Mayor of Mount Dora'. The Mount Dora Canine Mayor will serve as goodwill ambassador to all pets in the community.

Canine Mayor receives:
-Prestigious 1 year term and official collar
-Reserved parking at the city dog park
-Participation and representation in city parades and other events

All 'Caninedates' with a Mount Dora mailing address are eligible.
Nominations held October 17th through December 4th. Elections

held December 5th

All Caninedates are invited to participate and 'campaign' in the Canine Parade on November 26th.

On behalf of the Mount Dora Heroes Foundation, we would like to thank everyone for their participation in our canine mayor fundraiser last year. Each year this fundraiser provides a fun and interactive way to help support retired police K9s. We are so thankful for the community and all that the residents do to support this cause!

We are proud to announce that the Canine Mayor Election and Paw Parade raised $4,757.58 last year. All proceeds benefiting the Mount Dora Heroes Foundation - Canine Retirement Fund.

Swearing in for the new Canine Mayor and Vice Mayor is tentatively planned for the January 3rd council meeting.

 Max

Max is 5 years old. He loves to chase squirrels & lizards, enjoys playing ball, and long walks through Downtown Mount Dora.

   
     

 

Gryff
Gryff
Gryff is 1 year old and has lived in Mount Dora his entire life! He enjoys daily hikes through the woods behind the public library with his humans. On weekends, you'll often find Gryff strolling the streets of downtown Mount Dora meeting new friends and helping pick up any food people drop - He cares about keeping our community clean! Gryff also enjoys taking naps, digging holes, and chasing his tail - he is sure he will catch it one of these days.

   
     

Frasier

Frasier is 8month old. His hobbies are visiting with his friends and meeting new ones. Loves to go for leisure walks in Mount Dora and Renninger's. Frasier likes to take a dip in his kiddie pool, watch TV while lying on the couch and eating yummy snacks (fruits, veggies & peanuts).

Jubal
Jubal is 2 1/2 years old. His hobbies are treat surfing & hiking; Jubal is a dog park aficionado and loves to stick his big nose everywhere.  

   
     

Stella
Stella
Stella is 9 years old, she loves to fish and swim in the lake. Stella also enjoys chasing sandhill cranes, herons and our neighbors pet ducks.

   
     

Bo
Bo
Bo is 3 years old, he is outgoing and fun loving rescue Lab mix. Bo enjoys spending his afternoon at the Mount Dora dog park, he loves playing with his canine friends. Bo loves a good swim and walks around Downtown Mount Dora, where he loves meeting new humans and canines. Bo promises to represent the common hound.

   
     
 

Henry
Henry
Henry is 3 years old Sheltie/Corgi mix. He just recently moved to the City of Mount Dora
but he's not stranger to locals. He can often be seen greeting people at Maggie's Attic or swimming in the chain of lakes where he's often recognized by his orange life jacket. He loves water, squirrels and French fries and is looking forward to a term as mayor of his city!

Honey Bee
Honey Bee is 5 years old, likes to play ball and walk with her mom & dad around Mount Dora especially the Elizabeth Evans Park and the lighthouse. As you all can see, Honey Bee loves her toys.

Virgil is 3 and half years old and works as the school mascot for Mount Dora's local Montessori school. Virgil loves the children and brings many smiles to the school. He enjoys meditating and napping daily. Virgil loves to play but takes racing the UPS truck seriously.

 

   

Current Vice Mayor - Edie

Edie is 3 years old. Edie always looks forward to playing with her BFF and other dogs. She is fascinated with the lizard community and always shows them lots of attention! Edie loves to snuggle with her favorite people and shows off her snoring skills during sleep.


   
Canine Mayor elections will open again October 17, 2016.
