Disaster Preparedness

Prepare for the Unexpected
Some of the things that you can do to prepare for the unexpected, such as making an emergency supply kit or developing a family communications plan, are the same for both natural or man-made emergencies.

However, there are important differences among potential emergencies that will impact the decisions you make and the actions you take. You should learn more about the potential emergencies that could happen where you live and the appropriate way to respond to them.

In addition, learn about the emergency plans that have been established in your area by your state and local government.

Communication
During an emergency situation, the City of Mount Dora will provide information for its residents and visitors on the city's Information Line at (352) 735-7102. This information will be updated as it is received.

Hurricanes
If a hurricane is predicted to affect the Lake County area, it is important that Mount Dora residents know where to go for alternative shelter during the storm. Because of the potential damage to manufactured homes or those in low-lying areas, residents should never ignore an evacuation order.
